When creating an interview template, updating an interview template, or creating an interview plan to schedule a candidate, you will see an option to configure advanced settings.
We recommend leaving these blank for most interviews. While they give you more control over how an interview is scheduled, setting them will also reduce the number of schedule options you can choose from.
In this article, we'll explain the advanced settings that are available to you and some common use cases for them.
Position
If the interview always occurs at the same slot (i.e. First, Last) in the schedule, you should set its position.
For most interviews, we recommend leaving this blank so that we can try out different orderings and find a schedule that best fits your interviewers' calendars. However, for some interviews, you will want to set a position:
- For a Greeting or Office Tour interview, you can set its position to "First."
- For a Wrap-Up interview, you can set the position to "Last."
- If you have a series of wrap-up interviews, like a Hiring Manager 1:1 and an end-of-day Recruiter Wrap-Up, you can set their positions to "Second to Last" and "Last."
In all of the schedule options that we generate, we will always place the interview at the position you specify.
Time Window
If the interview should happen during a certain time of day, you should set its time window. The length of the time window should be longer than or equal to the interview's duration.
This setting is intended to be used for meals and breaks. Here are some examples:
- For an interview Lunch, you can set its time window to 11:00 AM-1:00 PM.
- If you want your candidate to have an afternoon break, you can set the break's time window to 2:00-3:00 PM.
In all of the schedule options that we generate, we will always place the interview somewhere within this time window. For example, if you have a 1-hr Lunch interview with a time window of 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, we will show you options including Lunch at 11:00 AM-12:00 PM, Lunch at 11:30 AM-12:30 PM, and Lunch at 12:00-1:00 PM.
