When your interview plan is defined in your ATS (which is the case if you're using Greenhouse), sometimes you want to schedule an event that's not a real interview. This can be breaks, lunches, greetings, walkouts, etc. that you want scheduled, but you don't want a scorecard attached to it. You can do this by creating custom interviews within Gem Scheduling.
This only applies when your ATS has interviews defined. For our current set of supported ATSs, this only applies to Greenhouse. For Lever, you'll have to create all interviews within Gem Scheduling since nothing can be imported.
When you create a custom interview, they behave in the exact same way that interview imported from your ATS behaves. The only differences are that the interviewer calendar event description won't include a link to the scorecard and the event won't show up in your ATS.
Creating a custom interview
To create a custom interview for a specific stage, you need to go to the Interviews tab for that specific page. Once there, if you click on the Edit button in the top-right corner of the Interviews section.
Once you've clicked on Edit, you should now see an Add Interview button at the bottom of your imported interviews.
Clicking on that will add a blank custom interview to the list. Remember that the order of these interviews aren't used when scheduling. If you want your interview to be scheduled at a specific position (e.g., always first or always last), then you'll need to set the position on the associated interview template. You can read more about the position setting here.
You must add a name for this custom interview, but just like other interviews, the default interview template is optional. This name will be included in the agenda sent in interviewers' calendar event descriptions, and if you use any of the Schedule.Agenda tokens in the candidate calendar event description or a confirmation email, it will be included in those as well.
Once you've set the name and optionally the default interview template, click Save. You can tell which interviews are custom and which are imported from your ATS by the icon on the left-hand side of the row.
