Overview
With this one-way HRIS integration, your recruiters can automatically push hired candidate data from Gem ATS to Rippling HRIS to help with the onboarding process.
Eligibility
Your team needs to have:
- Gem as your ATS
- Rippling as your HRIS (Rippling App Management Package required)
How to set up and use the integration
The following integration setup steps only need to be completed once for your team, and must be completed by someone who is both a Gem Admin and a Rippling Admin.
- Reach out to your team's dedicated Gem CSM or our Support team at support@gem.com to enable the integration in Gem.
- Once enabled, navigate to the Gem app in the Rippling app store.

Make sure you are logged into Rippling, then click Connect account and follow the on-screen prompts.
Once these steps are complete, you can ensure the integration setup is complete by navigating to Team Settings > Additional settings and scrolling down to the Rippling Integration module. You should see the Uninstall Rippling Integration button.
How to use the integration after setup
- When a candidate is marked as hired, they will automatically be pushed into Rippling’s system as a draft hire.
- At this point, you will have to go into Rippling (People → New Hires → Draft Hires) to continue filling out other fields and turn the draft hire into an active employee.
Which fields does Gem ATS send to Rippling HRIS?
- Name
- Job title
- Phone number
- Department (if it matches exactly what it is in Rippling)
- Work location (if it matches exactly what it is in Rippling)
Current limitations
- We do not push the field “employment type” because we don’t have the concept of non-exempt or exempt at the moment.
