Once you're familiar with Pipeline Analytics, you can take advantage of advanced forecasting tools like the Pipeline Forecasting Calculator and Expected Hires Calculator. These features help you plan ahead, allocate resources efficiently, and set realistic hiring goals based on historical data.
Pipeline Forecasting Calculator
This tool helps you determine how many candidates you need at each stage to meet your hiring targets. By entering your desired hires and adjusting passthrough rates, you’ll generate a forecast showing the number of candidates required at each step of the funnel.
How to use the Pipeline Forecasting Calculator:
- Ensure you’re in “Pipeline Funnel” view
- Click the calculator icon in the right column of the view
- Enter your target number of hires into the calculator (“If you want to hire x people…”)
- Adjust passthrough rates if needed (default rates are based on your historical data, but you can modify them to explore different scenarios)
- View your forecast, which shows the number of candidates needed at each stage to achieve your hiring goal
Expected Hires
The Expected Hires Calculator estimates how many hires you’re likely to make based on your current pipeline and historical passthrough rates. This tool provides a snapshot of how many candidates are actively in process and projects your expected number of hires at the top of the funnel.
How to use the Expected Hires Calculator:
- Ensure you’re in “Pipeline Funnel” view
- Click the calculator icon in the right column of the view
- Click the “Expected hires” tab in the pop-up
- Modify passthrough rates as needed. The calculator uses your historical data by default, but you can adjust these rates to see how different scenarios impact your expected hires.
- Modify Time in Stage settings as needed to optimize your funnel and align with your hiring goals. For example, reducing the average time spent in application review can help accelerate the hiring process and improve target outcomes.
- View the forecast. Gem will serve up a snapshot of active candidates currently in process for the selected job, department, or pipeline—along with a projection of the expected number of hires at the top.
Use these calculators to model different hiring efficiency scenarios and refine your recruiting plan. Experiment with passthrough rates and time in stage adjustments to create data-driven forecasts that support strategic decision-making. As your organization scales, presenting these insights in stakeholder meetings can help you make a strong, numbers-backed case for recruiting needs.
