When sourcing for a new open role, you might be tempted to jump onto LinkedIn to find fresh prospects. But before doing that, why not explore your Gem database to find talent you’ve already engaged with that could be an ideal fit?
When it comes to nurturing talent relationships, starting with candidates who are already familiar with and have engaged with your company can deliver significantly better results. These prospects are far more likely to respond to your outreach than those who are completely new to your brand. It’s a smarter, more efficient approach that maximizes your sourcing efforts—allowing you to focus on the talent that’s already primed and ready for re-engagement.
Here’s how to build a pool of already-sourced talent using Prospect Search:
1. From your Prospect Search page, click on the “Saved Searches” button (located both in the top-right corner and in the center of the page), then scroll down to find and select “Engaged prospects to nurture.” This search targets candidates who clicked a link in your outreach email but didn’t respond.
2. Refine your results by using the search bar to unearth candidates who are the perfect fit for the open role. The search bar scans all resumes uploaded to your ATS, allowing you to filter candidates by skills, job titles, companies, and more. Plus, with Boolean logic, you can use the AND operator to find candidates with multiple specific skills, ensuring a more targeted search.
3. Take your search to the next level by fine-tuning the filters on the left-hand side. For example, under “Contact history,” you could broaden your candidate pool by expanding the search to include candidates who opened your outreach message, but neither clicked nor replied.
4. Save the search to unlock automation. Once you’ve created your ideal candidate pool, save the search for easy future access and to unlock automated features that streamline your workflow:
- Set up Project Routing: Setting up Project Routing ensures that new candidates who match this search are automatically added to the selected Project for the open role. Gem checks for new matches every hour and will add them to the Project, notifying you when new prospects are found.
- Enable Sequence Routing: Turn on Sequence Routing to automatically add new candidates to a selected outreach sequence. This allows you to start engaging with your ideal candidates right away—and maintain ongoing engagement with fresh prospects as they appear—ensuring timely follow-ups without manual effort.
Rediscovering prospects within your existing database is a strategic and time-saving approach to building a high-quality candidate pool. By focusing on warm leads who are already familiar with your brand, you’re not only increasing your chances of re-engagement, but also ensuring you’re using your time and resources wisely.
