Sequences help automate your outreach and follow-ups to hundreds of candidates. However, if you reach out to too many people at once, you may encounter Gmail's rate limits.
Once you exceed a certain number of messages, Gmail may flag your emails as spam and prevent all of your messages from being sent. While we have implemented some logic on our end to make Gmail believe you are sending messages manually, as a best practice, we advise against sending more than a few hundred sequences per day.
Since Gem sends your emails through your Gmail account, it must comply with Gmail's sending limits, including rate limits. Google monitors both the total number of messages you send in a 24-hour period and the rate at which those messages are sent. You can find more information about Google's account limits here. Even if you stay within the daily limit of 2000 messages for paid Gmail accounts, sending a large number of emails in a short time may result in Google restricting your account from sending emails.
If you wish to email more than a few hundred recipients, we recommend sending your messages in batches with a few days in between. One option is to have teammates assist by splitting the list of recipients among them to send separate sequences.
Google takes several factors into account when determining your email-sending limits, including:
- A high bounce rate.
- Sending a large volume of emails in a short time frame. While you can send up to 2,000 emails per day through Gmail, you cannot send them all at once.
- When recipients mark your emails as spam by clicking "Mark as spam," it can reduce your sending limit by 100 emails each time this occurs.
