Adding a Candidate to Gem from Sourcing Sites

Overview

To add a candidate to Gem from sourcing sites, you can click “Add Candidate” in the Gem extension, save the candidate’s profile as a PDF, or drag and drop PDF resumes into the Gem extension or Gem website.

Requirements

These methods use the Gem extension, so please make sure you have it added to your Google Chrome browser first.

Click “Add Candidate” in the Gem extension

A new Gem profile will be created for the candidate and our data providers will populate details about the candidate for you in the Gem extension/sidebar using publicly available information.

In addition to this, a Gem-generated resume will automatically be created for the candidate as a PDF file. This will be accessible and is downloadable from the Gem extension under the Candidate Info section. Should you decide to upload the candidate to your ATS, the PDF will also be included.

Save the candidate’s profile as a PDF

A new Gem profile will be created for the candidate and our extension will grab their details from the downloaded file in order to populate them in the Gem extension/sidebar. Please note, some sourcing sites like LinkedIn impose a limit on the number of profiles that can be saved per month.

Drag and drop PDF resumes into the Gem extension or Gem website

You can create a Gem person (Prospect, Candidate) by dragging and dropping a PDF resume into Gem using the extension or Gem website.

By default, new persons will be put into “My Scratchpad” upon upload. You must separately add them to a Project, a Sequence, or a Job.

Upon upload, we do the following: 

• Resume parsing
• De-duping

Usage Notes

• Incomplete data - Occasionally, you may run into instances where clicking “Add Candidate” and going through our data providers does not surface everything you’re seeing on the candidate’s sourcing site profile in Gem. If this happens, you can save their PDF file (see steps here) to get their information added. Gem will overwrite any existing fields that were populated by our data providers with their details from the PDF. (Any information that you’ve entered manually will not be overwritten.)

• “Download PDF” is the only option - Gem is unable to leverage data providers on candidates that do not have publicly available information, so the “Add Candidate” button will display “Download PDF” instead when this happens. You will need to save their PDF file from the sourcing site in order to add them to Gem. Please note, some sourcing sites like LinkedIn impose a limit on the number of profiles that can be saved per month.
