Sending on behalf of a hiring manager has been shown to 2x response rates for Outbound email sequences. With Gem, there are actually two different ways for you to send sequences as someone else:
-
Creating an Alias and setting up email forwarding. - Aliases also let you control the messages that are sent, as well as handle the replies.
-
Requesting Send From access for a teammate's Gmail account. - This is a great way to get Hiring Managers involved in the hiring process. This lets you send sequences on behalf of a teammate, and have them be in charge of the correspondence. Please reach out if you need help deciding which use-case works best for you!
In this Help article, we will go into depth on the differences between these two options. Before setting this up, make sure you confirm with the Hiring Manager or person you are trying to send as, that it is okay to do this.
Creating an Alias
The first option for Sending as someone else is to set up a Gmail Alias designed to look like the person you are sending as. The key thing to note about this approach is that you will want to make sure you email forwarding for the alias set up to go into your direct inbox so you will see the candidate responses right from your primary inbox.
It is also important to mention that once you have configured an alias in Gmail, Gem will automatically recognize that and pull it into the "Sender" drop down on the "Sequence Settings" page.
Requesting Send From Access
The second option for Sending as someone else is actually to request send from access for that person's Gmail account. In this instance, the person you are trying to send as will actually grant you access to send from their primary email account, in which case, all responses will go directly into that person's inbox.
As with setting up a Gmail Alias, once that user has okayed your request to send from their Gmail, Gem will automatically recognize that and pull it into the "Sender" drop down on the "Sequence Settings" page.
