Overview
Gem is able to automatically track when you send an InMail from a candidate's LinkedIn profile page if you use Recruiter, Recruiter Lite, or Premium. This applies to both InMail sequences created and scheduled via Gem, as well as one-off InMails.
Replies from candidates via InMail and their content will also be automatically tracked in their Gem activity feed if you are on LinkedIn Recruiter or Recruiter Lite. This is accomplished by our email integration detecting the notification email that you receive from LinkedIn when someone replies and looking at the InMail’s subject line, as well as the LinkedIn handle of the candidate. (If no match is found, you can still manually log the reply in Gem.)
If you use LinkedIn Premium, you will need to manually log when receive an InMail in Gem.
All tracked InMail activity will appear in your Outreach Stats as messages sent or replies.

Tracking Sent InMails and Replies
Note: Gem can help you track your InMail activity, but sending InMail is a manual action that needs to be performed from LinkedIn. Learn more about how to use Gem to help you send InMails here.
LinkedIn Recruiter and Recruiter Lite users:
-
All sent InMails will be tracked automatically, including InMails sent as part of Gem sequences and one-off InMails
-
InMail replies and the content of the message will be tracked automatically, appearing under the candidate’s Activity feed in Gem
-
In the event that Gem cannot match an InMail reply notification email up with a candidate in Gem, you will need to manually log that they have replied
-
-
When a candidate replies, an automated Gem Bot message will be added to the InMail email notification thread, giving you shortcuts to take action on the candidate directly from your inbox
-
If a candidate is in a sequence and replies, the sequence will finish and stop further follow-ups

FAQ
Q: What types of InMails are tracked?
A: If you use LinkedIn Recruiter, Recruiter Lite and meet the requirements: InMails sent to candidates in Gem and replies to them.
If you use LinkedIn Premium and meet the requirements: InMails sent to candidates and what you have manually logged as replies.
Q: Why didn’t Gem automatically log an InMail reply? (LinkedIn Recruiter or Recruiter Lite)
A: When you received the InMail reply email notification for the candidate, we were unable to find a profile in Gem that corresponds to them. This is generally due to Gem finding multiple profile matches in Gem, preventing us from being able to tell which person to attribute the message to.
Q: Does this mean I can automatically send InMails from Gem?
A: Gem can help you track your InMail activity, but sending InMail is a manual action that needs to be performed from LinkedIn. Learn more about how to use Gem to help you send InMails here.
Q: I have a sequence where I’m sending an InMail in one stage and an email in the next stage. What happens if Gem doesn’t detect an InMail reply by the time the email is scheduled to be sent?
A: The candidate will be added to your To Do list and you will be prompted to look for any InMail replies from them. If you do not find any, you can proceed with sending out the next stage.
