Using the Gem Chrome Extension in Gmail

The Gem Chrome extension works in Gmail, allowing you to take common Gem actions directly from your inbox when you get responses from candidates.

If you haven't added the Gem Chrome extension yet, you can get it here.

Note: In order to use the Gem extension over Gmail, split pane mode must be disabled. This can be toggled in the top-right corner of your inbox and the icon must look like this:

With the Gem Chrome extension installed, you can take actions in Gmail such as:

• Converting a prospect to a candidate by uploading them to your ATS - If they respond positively, mark the candidate as "Interested", convert directly to a candidate in your ATS, and set the stage.

• Setting a reminder note for the candidate - If they're interested, but timing's not right, set the candidate to "Follow Up Later", set a reminder and due date for when to circle back. (e.g. 'Shares vest in Q3 - follow up in May.') When the due date rolls around, Gem will send you an email notification with a link to their Gem profile.

• Replying to a candidate with a Canned Response template - Create Canned Responses in Gem and reply directly to the thread. Leverage the same tokens that are available in your sequences for a personalized message.

• Adding a candidate to a Nurture Sequence or talent pool Gem Project - Use Gem Projects to create talent pools and add candidates to them so you can keep in touch. Or, if you already know how you want to engage with the candidate down the road, add directly to a Nurture Sequence and schedule it for several months later. Any communication from the candidate between now and then will stop the nurture sequence automatically.
